i have just aquired a complete metro turbo engine and it is not known wether it is leaded or unleaded. what should i look for on the engine number?

MG Metro Turbo unleaded : 12HF01

MG Metro Turbo leaded : 12H996A

thats alright. you can convert to unleaded cheaply or just run it on lead replacement with additives. You can buy additives at all petrol stations and most raise the octane level of your fuel at the same time.
I run my 1330 like that and it goes like stink!

another question. this is the complete engine number 12H996AA ******. what does it all meen, i have tryed to fing out from a metro site but it doesnt seem to metion the turbo part.
other numbers say they are turbo models put this one comes out as just MG metro??????

could any one shed some light on this?

from a previous post i read that you could tell how the engine was built etc, i would like to know more about it if any body can help.

turbos on high boost dont like lead replacmet fuel
super plus and castrol lead replacmet work well in mine up to 12 psi

the 12h bit means its a 1275.
the last 6 numbers are just the engine number
i don' know what the others mean

I wouldn' post the last 6 digits on the internet too much ;] it has no relevance to the specs of your engine, just giving other people your engine number!
