Hi ive put harneses in the mini now with buckets dad think we need to keep the rear belts other wise its not ligal or some thing? no one is going to be in the back.

technically if theres a seat there then there has to be a functioning seatbelt.

take the seat out too, otherwise leave the belts put.

It depends on what year your car is. I cant remember the exact date but up to a certain year you didnt have to have them.

well no ones going to be in the back just the steering lock and general stuff liek geetar or some thing

Even if there is no-one there, you still need to have a seatbelt if there is a seat and the car is from after the critical date. I think it was august '87 for rear seatbelts, but basically if they are fitted to your car they probably need to stay 'because Rover were tight buggers and didn't fit anything they didn't need to.

Not if it was made this side of 1969 it ain't! They dropped Austin and Morris badges when the MkIII came out. Your car is Austin-Rover, which they called the company because people hated the name British Leyland so much.
My Mini was Austin-Rover too, it was a 90 and had static rear seatbelts which it needed to keep.

mount the rear seatbelts abit to side then or rethink your plans.

Its true about the seatbelt thing, u must have seatbelts for all seating after a certain year.

My car as a plate on a door post which has some numbers on, i was told this was the seatbelt guideline plate. I have front seatbelts but no rears (except 1 aftermarket fitted), it passed mot fine.

stupid law! you cant mount it to the side because the harneses go into one of the places that the belts go

Check the rules first, but you might be able to get away with just lap belts in the rear which would leave the upper mounting free for your harnesses. Lap belts aren't super safe though, but if you don't plan to have anyone in the back and it passes the MOT then that's all you need.

What plate is this Jordie? Could you post a pic?

aye if i get chance, i took one before when i asked what it was. i was informed by someone on miniclassic.co.uk forum that it was seatbelt guidelines for car.

the harneses go into the botom. for the MOT ile take the seats out
