This is the best i can do with the pictures you've given us lew.

For us to photoshop realistically, we need good qualioty images in the first place, none of these images lend themselves to photoshopping, whilst i can tidy the picture up, It's hard to get it looking right as the picture is fuzzy and dark. Also the car is wet. If you can give the car a wash, dry it off. polish it, get it in a well lit garage and then take some side on pics, it'd be much better and easier for us to photoshop, and the results would look great too.

the main problem is the light, that was because of the weather when you took the picture.

OR if you really want "old colour" look at Layland Grey!! Such a Classy colour, it was the previous colour I was going to spray my Mini before I decided on Orange!

Why?
It can be more expensive if kept orginal.
Let him do what he wants... he doesn't tell you what to do with your Mini does he?

Not sure how it can be more expensive to keep existing parts, but if something has to be replaced, which I see no mention of in this thread, and from the picture it all looks in great condition, then not buying something that doesn't need to be replaced has got to be the cheapest option surely?

Personally I think it looks odd when the bonnet is a completely different colour to the rest of the car (eg. carbon showing weave). However, someone in America made a carbon bonnet showing weave, sprayed it, but left two stripes in carbon, that looked cool!
