I thats what i was thinking, those sva people love sharp edges ,The like to get under the dash with a tortch and look for sharp edges like heater brackets. any thing forward facing of the driver.

dean-chad
yeah i had to re-shim my diff part of the engine subframe, (removed and replaced the washers) to get my sprocket to align with the chain, although z- cars work is very good i think this is still an area that everyone finds work on, but then again this is the third kit car i have built and z cars is the best quality i have come across!

their is an area about 150 mm around the sterring wheel that is exempt from sharp edges so im going to fit my light switches witin this area, the left hand bottom edge has a 19mm radius, like you say its the centre section i need to modify ,havnt decided what to do,sva testers can be funny cant they, they like to see things that are supposedly permanent so i cant just gaffer tape something on.
yeah the dash in yr avatar has a nice big bar underneath, so i see it has the 19mm radius already built in, all good!

I know what they are like. I have seen fights at newcastle sva :)

My dash is still in the post but i would imagine you could cut that bit off and rivet some alloy sheet on and form it round or just make a fiberglss bit.

fights really!? wow!
some people are stupid when it comes to sva, they dont reaise the testers have got a job to do, ive found you have to bite yr tongue, my mate took his car for an sva and it failed on noise (103db) the limit is 101 , the tester allowed us to remedy it while he had lunch, so we went to b and q and brought some loft insulation and stuffed some up the exhaust, it bruoght the sound level down to 92db!!!! although the tester told us to turn the engine off before anything else came out! he gave him a pass .
we then drove down the road pulled up , my mate planted his foot and balsted everything out!!
it goes to show what happens on their premises is what matters, they have rules to work to!
its quite straight forward if you stick to the guidlines, i think the brake test is the most stringent part, as they weigh the car and test the brakes according to the weight and front /rear bias (for balance) .
ive found even if the car fails sva its only £30 for a retest and you know what jobs you have to do (as my mate says its only an mot on steriods!)
i was thinking the same about the ally formwork for the bottom edge

Yea fights, Two blokes with a mitsubishi gto, 2nd retest they had a fluid leak on one of the calipers. The tester said they culdnt drive it away it had to go on a recovery truck. So the started fighting with the tester to get the keys back then wheel span off.
The police came.

I have a good relationship with them because i bring them plenty of work

This is my header tank, my mate Bryne made it , he only lives at the top of my road, he has his own buisness making ally products for motorsport,i.e header tanks, radiators, fuel tanks, his prices are resonable too, as its not his full time job -more of a hobby.
