Hey All,

I haven’t done a lot on my mini yet but the first big thing is to sort out all the body work for her, as this is my first mini and first car im not sure exactly whether I should go for a full re-spray or just get a body shop to touch up panels however please remember im going to have to do this on a student budget!!! :D

Here are the pictures I have taken of all areas that need work

PS any ideas to clean up my engine bay will be appreciated or good body shops near Birmingham!!!!

:D JAi :ermm:

If we were to replace all the rot with steel i would say get a new front end, or you could do small localised repairs to the rot and make sure it can't spread or regrow...

either way, I'd say you could probably touch up the back, but a full front end respray would probably needed, really we need to see a picture of the hole of the fornt of the car with some circles round the ares inflicted.....

new panels is the best way to go with a respray of the new panels (ie front end), if u go to a good place they will make up a good match of paint to the rest of the car other wise u mite find that the new paint looks a slightly different shade

I looked at your pictures and i have the same rust spots all over mine too. For the back panel you can buy a lower half repair if the rust is just under the window but i have a sneaky suspicion yours may extend further up round the window than the panel allows for... the lower panel i bought from minisport for summit like £110. At present saving up for the front end as im one of those skint students. Im going down the route of replacing all the panels for now . You cant beat rust for long with a mini as its a cheap metal and will always come back.
