ok im in the middle of a full respray, got hold of a secondhand door, it had a bit of bubbling around the edges so i sanded it back to the metal, question is how should i go about making sure the rust doesnt come back through, i dont think i can sand back to shiny metal as it will loose some of the door contour.
or could i rebuild the shape usinf filler or would it break off?
any help appreciated

Ideally, you should cut out that rust and weld in a patch or fit a new skin. But if you can't afforf this, I would get out as much of the rust as possible with a wire brush attachment on the drill or similiar, prime it with red oxide and put a skim of filler over it. This won't hold it back forever, but maybe a year or so.

looking at the picture non of that rust is serious.... but as the others say, it's hard to stop it completely... i would use kurust as it's a chemical reaction, thus it gets into all the tiny tiny places that the wire wheel can't... then when you've cleaned it off and degreased it, start adding thin layers of filler on untill you get the contour right, when you're happy, get some red oxide on (proper red oxide is a Zinc Rich primer that protects metal verrry well) and, then your topcoats.. and laquer if needed. then polish it, and then wax it.

then drink beer, eat pie and relax... :(
