Putting some 12 x 6 Superlite Deep Dish alloys onto it, I was wondering what arches people think I should fit.

Originally I was gonna space my wheels out with spacers by another inch and fit Group 5 or Euro 5 arches. But I was advised by my Mini garage not to use spacers but I really like the look of theose arches.

What shall I do? :saywhat:

it might help to put a pic up of the alloys your are getting to help people think easier about what alloys would suit it.

There is a mini off mini park, I kinda of liked those arches with those alloys (the same I am getting) except that the way the front arche flares forwards.

Im too fussy :dontgetit:

Anway, what d you guys reckon would go well with the above alloys?

If I was to get the Euro 5 or Group 5 arches with my 12 x 6 deep dish superlites, what size spacers would I have to fit?

I am getting confused with the spacer thing as my mate has the same alloys with no spacers with the sportspack arches and they are flush. The sportspack arches and Gorup 5 / Euro 5 arches both being 3" wide.

Im confused, Help plz! :dontgetit:

If your gonna use spacer, DON'T go any bigger than 3/4", and never use the type that have screw on stud extensions.

If it was my car I think I would go with a set of classic Gp2's, they go well with any stlye of car and look the part too. They will cover the wheel just nicely and the wheel will fill the arch just right. I hate it when people put big arches over wheels that come no were near to filling them like Sportspacks over standard 6's.
If your gonna use spacers, then you might need to go up a size and opt for the Gp5 arches.

At the end of the day tho, everyone has different tastes and its your car, so do what you want and not what others want.

A good way for choosing arch sizes is in the back of the Mini Spares cataloge, they have the sizes of all the different types for how far they come out from the body, so you can measure how far your wheels stick out and get arches to suit.

wow, thnx alot "Bluemini" really useful, so do you reckon if I put the 3/4" spacers on and have my gp5 arches it'll be ok?

I was told by my Mini garage that putting spacers on the front wheels can be damaging. But, I read you spacer FAQ and I see that alot of people havn't had any problems so I'm really not sure.

Also i'm not sure if the spacers that arn't the screw on ones will go on my drums or sommit.

All Advice is apreciated

Right, scrap that psot above lol. Always changing my mind.

I'm trying to sway away from the idea of spcaers atm mainly due to the garage also telling my mother that they are not good for the car and seeing as im only 16 she has a say in the car atm. :dontgetit:

So... I'll leave getting the gp5 arches and the spacers untill the future sometime but for the meanwhile I've seen the w/p arches and these very similar ones that mini sport sell which I like the look of.

One more question: In the pic above of the blue car you can see the front arche almost touches the front bumper. But I prefer the arch to end more vetical similar to trwo cars I've seen with gp5 arches in the mini world magazine.

Any help always aprreciated,

minicooperman showed me this site and urged me to signup and I'm already finding it very usefull. Good Work Guys, keep it up :dontgetit:

You can trim the front of the bumper to make it a better shape and bend the arch more too if you want it to curve more.

nah, I really like the shape of the bumper, I'm kinda meaning a larger gap between the fron of the arch and the bumper:

Right, what I'm after is if I could have the arch stop there where the black line is so it looks like the pic below:

Any Idea how I could change the arch to this?

PLEASE HELP!

If anybody has cut arches before or has any experience with fibreglass I'd be very apreciative.

What I'm wanting to do is just to cut the arch where the black line is:

To get this effect:

You can get the effect your after by making the arch more arched in the middle, just by bending it slightly then screwing it in place. I got mine on Old Blue from Huddersfield Mini Spares and they were a perfect shape. Dont go for the Euro Gp5's they are C**p, get the real ones like I got.

Ok I'll have a play when I get the arches, the arches im buying are the w/p fibreglass arches which are available from MWS. They are pictured in the first blue mini, the pic of the mini off the front of that mag has go5 arches but I just used that to illustrate the gap between the bumper and end of the arch which im after.

Got my bill today for the work done on my car i.e. a panels, angel eyes etc.

Gonna talk to the nice lady on the phone from Huddersfield spares and try and get some locking wheel nuts, centre caps and centre cap stickers free with my order. Well seeing as I'm spending £320 with them it's worth a try, right?

Good idea, but I really need the alloys now because my standard tyres are getting low so there is no point me buying new tyres for my 5" wheels when im getting tyres with my new alloys
