i know this sounds ultra american... but don't worry about brakes. As long as you don't add weight to the vehicle there is no need to upgrade brakes. The only reason you would need to upgrade them is because, theoretically with the extra power your going to be going faster... which means you need to stop faster. As long as you don't go faster your fine. Accelerating up to the same speed you normally do, but twice as fast does not require better brakes when you need to stop.

Very nearly decided, now looking at the tried and tested setup of Jack Knight 16v head and engine. Reliable and well built (?) to start with and then possible to upgrade power later with engine management system. Thanks for all the help guys. Cheers.
