I finally got my stage one fitted on sunday which i bought last week at mini in the park, was drivin round all last night, it was sounding good and has made a lot of difference so i was well chuffed......

....... until this morning when i was on my way to work, got bout 20 metres up the road when my engine started making an awful noise and there was absolutley no power in the car. I got out and discovered the link pipe had fallen off :dontgetit: :dontgetit:

its all sorted and fitted proper now tho, but its just left me feelin to scared to drive it

Apparently, a Stage One on a 998 ~= a stock 1275 engine.

stage one kits rock it is really cool when you go through tunnel or small town roads it echo when you rev the car. Stage1:

free flow air filter (K&N, Piper, etc)
better inlet manifold
LCB exhaust manifold
free-flow exhaust system
uprated needle to cope with other changes

End result can be about 12% more torque and 20% more power. Definitely the best small-tune you can do, and the best value-for-money tuning upgrade.

Stage2:

Stage 1 kit
modified head, usually I think enlarged ports/chambers

Stage3:

Stage 2 kit
modified head with larger inlet OR exhaust valves

Stage4:

Stage 3 kit
modified head with larger inlet AND exhaust valves

Stage5:

Stage 4 kit
Extra, special head mods. Slanted guides, etc.
