I think it's an excellent idea, but then I'm biased...

To flip front a mini you will need...

Brace Bars Round Nose Clubman
Solid Subframe mounts Kit
Some hinges or pins for the front, and bolts / fastners to secure to A panels...
Ohh and a front to flip which can be fiberGlass, carbon fiber, Steel etc... and some mods to the wiring.

You will then need the fit to cut the old front off, Angle grinder, air chisle, reciprocating saw or such like...

and a copy of KYMA 3 which shows you how to do it !!! ( or a dodgy copy *cough*)

Opps... and the benefits..

1. it's cool
2. you can get to the engine.
3. changin the engine takes about 30 mins
4. it's cool
5. working on the engine is a joy...
6. did I mention it was cool ?
7. gets rid of those rusty wings and valance, and you can keep the flitch free of rust...

Down side...

Mr insurance may not like it... as it's structural body modifications... check first

i'm planning on fitting one. I've got all bits, just no time.

I agree with guessworks, they are cool, easier to work on engine, rust free.

But one big crash could wreck the whole fibreglass front, so thats a thing to bear in mind.

fibreglass is very easy to repair, so if you do ding it or break it, you can just glue it back together again in a few mins, bit of filler on the cracks and a quick blow over, and your sorted!
easily done by yourself on the drive on a saturday morning, none of that nasty welding and grinding stuff!

whilst on the subjects of flip fronts. im after a carbon fibre clubman front with carbon fibre bonnet. im going for an ultra lightweight street racer and to get rid of alot of weight, the front ends going. Ive already sorted out the rest of the car for c/f. im planning on carbon boot, doors and even bumpers lol.

anyone know where i can get one from?

cheers J

Under interior and exterior styling, you will se a thread on a two piece carbon fibre front end. Very reasonable price and good fit.

Looking for a guy called smudger, he's located in the north west of england, near liverpol i think

(he also makes carbon weave bonnets and boots too)

He is a pic of his bonnet:
