It's an unusual conversion, so you'd probably have to pay top whack as it would be a little experimental!
I'd say someone like 16V minishop might be able to help???
Oooh, is this a project? Or shall I move it to minichat???

hopefully its a project.
what sort of power can you get from a r5turbo engine standard? bit of tweaking? compared to a k series?
are the engines relatively small then? would they fit in a roundnose?
i hope you go through with this, would love to see how it turns out.

Where do you want it? If its going in the back I'd only go to Z-Cars. If its in the front then theres Allspeed, Watsons, or 16V Mini Shop.

yeah think i'd look along the lines of turboing the a series can you really afford 100+hours of alspeeds time? fabricating and testing a subframe will take a while check out turbominis forum that'l give you the bug for one!

Id say you looking on the upper side of 10 grand for that sort of job to be carried out.
A V-tec Drive in - Drive out conversion is about that. And they have ready made frames on the shelf.

ouch, u can get a healthy amount of power outta a r5Gtt engine, they like to blow h-gaskets and the head gaskets are complete pigs, because you have to torque it up, then degree it, then run it for 15 mins, the torque it and degree it again!

yeah renault 5 engines are sometime a great hassle and can get through head gaskets and turbo's like smarties.
yeah i kno it's not gonna be cheap but, it'l be unique, i wil have to get the 90mm front extension. just getting a couple off qoutes through at the moment so just waiting. insurance wont be cheap either for what ive found. a renault five gt turbo is a group 14 insurance, where can you insure these kinda things? most ive spoken to say unable to quote?

There has been a Renault 5 GT Turbo powered round nose mini - there used to be a photo of it somewhere in the 16vminiclub gallery - can't find it now though All I remember is someone spotting it at a show !

The only thing I can think of to say is that you have to remember that all you're achieving by doing this is replacing one ancient pushrod engine with another.
But... we all have visions,.. and different engine's impress different people. I say go for it, but it will be a long haul... and you'll have to toughen up that engine to make it a bit more reliable. Last thing you want is to get the engine in etc, only to get annoyed with it and never use it/sell it.

Renault 5's are reliable as long as u do a few things, keep it cool (copper core rad), put a better head gasket on and drive it sensibly.
if u rag it or turn the boost up, it will go bang! they tend to overheat, hence the head gasket problems, so better intercooler/oil cooler and rad and your away
why not just buy a renault 5 gt turbo, i nearly did! still want one to be honest!
