I know this is not technically for this section but it does relate.
what to choose, that is the question.
Kinda worried about all that power going to the rear wheels.
Anyone have experience with front engined Vtech's from watsons rally. Also what are the other options out there for Vtech mini conversions?
I also read in another post that the Zcars have "their own set of problems" when comparing them to the old A-series...
Anyone care to shed some light??

Why are you worried about the power going to the rear wheels???? With FWD cars they put their nose up and make smoke when you give on the gas.
RDW cars dig into the road and go!!!!!!!!!!!

Other options for Vtec conversions.......... Do both........ :xxx:

Problems????? Not really. With the bike conversion you have the chain and the reverse, that's all I think. The rest is a lot of sorting out on stuff. Loom, brakes and that stuff.

All depends what you want it for really.

A Z Cars conversion isn't exactly an everyday car since there is no luggage space, and from what I've heard they can get quite hot and, to a lesser extend with the Vtec, a bit noisey, however this can be combatted with sound deadening! Everyday usability has nothing to do with the drive of the conversion either, however you do need to be quite careful in the wet, but anyone without a lead right foot should be capable of keeping one on the road.

The Watsons conversion is ok, but I don't think its a great track weapon. The track and wheel base are increased I believe, and the frame is quite heavy. But, you can retain the boot and you still have quite a stock looking mini inside and out (ignoring the extended round nose front).

id be interested to know what the problems areas well
so far we have sold over 160 kits mainly bike engined with very little trouble
some people have more contact with us than others about how the kits fit etc but thats to be expected bearing in mind the variety in talent mechanically of our customers
we have tried to cover as much as we can by doing things like the dvd to help the builds
we are always on hand to offer advice where needed and answer the phone most days fom 0800 to 2200 hours i know of very few places you can get that sort of response in any other industry apart from the emergency services(come to think of it you cant get to see your doctor for 3 days nowa days so maybe we are better than i thought)
i often read threads on forums about bike engined cars and all sorts of horror stories basically weve built over a thousand bike engined cars over the past 14 years and understand them inside out many other companies and individuals have dabbled in them with poor results this is due to lack of understanding howto fit them correctly and how to ensure correct gear linkages and clutch operation is acheived this leads to poor driveability and stalling
when set up correctly they are magic things but not for everyones tastes hence the v tec kits
now we are expanding this range to include smaller and cheaper b series v tecs
if anyones got any comments about the kits that we can constructively address we will be happy to do so
chris
