hi Mark looking at car from front you have two master cylinders i take it one does front one does rear is it just a question of running to a tpiece to split to left and right calipers and the same for the rear?Had a look at your photos and just cant make it out, looks good though.

I had 2 single lines running from the cylinders, the front split like this as per standard mini...............

And the rear split at the end of the tunnel where the zcars frame starts like this

What size cylinders have you got and what calipers are you running??

cheers for photos Mark running 5/8 and 13/16 cylinders and was going for kad calipers.See you've got a bias valve in car necessary or can you adjust it enough on bias bar?

to be honest i have removed the Kad bias pedal box as it wasnt giving enough pressure tot he front calipers even with a 5/8" cylinder for the front, it need a 14mm version from AP but there geting on for around £100 alone plus a remote resevoir. I have got a 3/4 Mini clutch master cylinder which feed both front and rear calipers and just wind off the rear brakes with a tilton valve. It gives a better slightly softer pedal but a lot more pressure and feel plus it stands on its nose now compared to the KAD pedal box.
So i saved myself around £300 and sold it on.
Valve was £30 from ebay and mini cylinder was already on the car as i put a smaller cylinder on the clutch.

this what was fitted

The single cylinder setup is also used for all of the Zcars racers now.

i would agree with what mark has put
basically the kad box gives you the ability to run fully split system front to back and you can get the adjustment by screwing the bias one way or the other, however the pedal ratio that operates the fulcrum to press on the two cylinders isnt of enough mechanical difference to get a nice feel and unless you use very small pistons in the master cylinders you will need to press like hell to get the brake pressure up enough to stop the car
if you look at a trolley jack then the principal is easy to understand basically you pump the handle and a tiny cylinder moves oil into a large cylinder this means that the lever is pumping a relatively small amount of oil with a big lever operating it hence a small force with your arm will lift a heavy load
the foot pedal on your car now becomes the lever of the trolley jack if you have a short lever operating the master cylinders then this increases effort
if you have a pair of big bore cylinders on the end of the lever operating the calipers then this increases the effort required
we now use two solutions to this problem
on a steel bodied mini with our big four pot calipers we use a single 7/8master cylinder which gives good feel and retardation
on the new fibreglass cars and the monte carlo we use a wilwood pedal box with two three quarter master cylinders this arrangement gives even better braking even though we are using the same discs and calipers on both types of car
the reason the wilwood works so well and will accept three quarter master cylinders is simply down to the fulcrum ratio being lots higher than a normal mini pedal
we tried all the recognised mini calipers and setups before making our own they all left things to be desired either on stopping power terms or on price
the big tarox 6 pot calipers were good but were actually too good to give a nice feel
they are probably the nuts if you have a front engined car but with less weight on the front of a z car you need to have a nice balance front to rear

I know this is an older thread but is it OK to use a clutch cylinder as a brake, I thought the brake ones had a return in them? Thanks

Cool, I have been messing with the KAD box for a while and have to replace it now anyway due to space limitations, will give the clutch one a try

Rather than open up a new thread i'll post on here. Its along the same lines.

I have a kad pedal box and am thinking of making a new pedal which is a bit longer to produce more leaverage. Is this something that can be done? Or would people leave this idea alone?
