and the cinq isnt rusty at all which is a hell of a lot different to the mini as i found out today.
on the subject of the mini though ive just brought rear brake cylinders and a set of shoes, so am hopefully fitting them tomorrow and bleeding the whole system and then see if the brakes actually work.

And of course it's rusty, you can't fool us. It's a Fiat, how can it not be rusty?

it aint rusty honestly thats why its cost me over £2300 to do it and keep it lookin mint.Aha, so now the truth comes out ! You say this Cinq drives like a Mini, but you are comparing a Mini which is extreemely bodged and butchered to a Cinq which has had a lot of sorting done to improve it  ! Hardly fair I think.
And of course it's rusty, you can't fool us. It's a Fiat, how can it not be rusty?
Yes it has had a lot of work done to it but thismini is gonna have more done to it,
and i was comparing the driving experience of the cinq to my mates mini which is lowered on uprated dampers etc and i surprised him when i took him out in my cinq, i cant really compare it against my mini as ive only driven it to the end of the road and back at where i brought it from as my dad drove it home and i havent got it on the road yet
But today ive fitted the pasenger side rear cylinder and shoes after fully cleaning all the adjuster and plates etc to get rid of the brake fluid, i then went to fit the drivers side knowing this side was a bit worse as brake fluid was driping down the back of the tyre, took off the drum to find it pouring with brake fluid and all the inside of the drum, back plate, cylinders and shoes were all ckaed in brake fluid and C**p so spent ages cleaning it off all the drum and plates etc and roughening up the internals of the drum to remove the shining
Just got to release the adjuster and clean that a bit more and then put that side cylinder and shoes on and bleed the whole system and see if the brakes work then, if they dont ill have to inspect the front brakes but on the subject of the rear while doing the drivers side i found out one of the wheel studs had broken off and gone missing with the wheel nut and the suspension damper is completely shot
So im at minimine again tomorrow

Not sure about the colour myself as i brought the car as i loved it overall and it looked a good project but i dont actually like white cars much as i think there is loads of other better colours.
So the colour might change
'the colour scheme is very similar to the one i have planned for my Project car'
whats the plans then give us a taster
Thanks for all the kind coments about the mini its nice to know somebody likes it as my parents dont.

White cars + rain = run marks
white cars + muddy water = splash marks
I hate my car been white for the above, happens to all cars, but u notice it more on white ones. Having mine painted subaru impreza blue with viper stripes.
Also if ur wheels are 7 or 8 " wide, that along with 2" spaces and disks means ure car is gunna be way out.

what colour do you think i should go for
Repsol orange (like the mini on the front of 'minimag' this month)
Lamborghini orange (a metalic sunny orange)
Seat canica blue (lighter blue than rover surf blue)
Old english white (the cream version)
there the options so far
im spraying some of the car soon anyway as the lad before only sprayed the outside of the car and then brush painted the engine bay with the engine in there so have got to spray the following
-Engine bay after ive removed subframe and engine assembly.
-Inside the boot and the boot floor as its slightly rusty
-The whole inside of the car
-The b pillars as he masked of the locks
-The rear panel as he masked of rear lights and petrol cap
-The boot lid as im modding it soon
-The bonnet as im moding that very soon so it fits flush all the way round and so its suitable for mk1 grille.
-Im replcaeing front panel soon as its crumpled slightly and im a perfectionist.
so thats a bout 3/4s of the car to be painted anyway

After letting my mate play with the mini going up and down the drive he managed to get the gearbox working so it now goes in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and reverse but no matter how much i try i cant get it into fifth dont no why though
But today i worked on the bonnet a bit because as some may have noticed the back of the bonnet sat up a bit on the bonnet pins because the hinge brackets etc were still on the bonnet so today using my spot weld drill bits i removed the five small brackets and hammerited the areas and the bonnet actually sits flush now.
im working on the grille at the moment as im stripping off the chrome slats and painting the back plate as its all rusty so im going to rub that down and hamerite it, then straighten some of the slats as about three are bent in places and then im gonna re rivet them back on the the back plate and fit it on to the car and ill put up a picture of the car to see if you can see the differences on the bonnet and grille.
by the way for all the people that are woried we checked the front spacers and there not even an inch thick more like 6/8ths of an inch
:worship:
just love the above smilie

And I have to disagree about white cars being hard to keep clean. Having had lots of cars in lots of colours, I would say that black is the toughest to keep looking really clean. White hides the dirt to a great extent, with only the really obvious marks which are generally easy to wipe off showing up.
