The picture below was taken before I started with the hammerite, Ive nearly finished both subframes, sills and valances. Ive still got the arches and suspension to do later in the week...
Apart from the subframes, what else should I hammerite in the picture?
Im putting the car on axle stands to finish the subframes today, so If there is anything else worth doing at the same time.
What should I Hammerite?

Right Ive painted the rear subframe without using a wire brush on the rust, I got the loose stuff off but now I'm worried as somebody on another forum did the same. The rust was acclerated nder the paint and within 4 months he needed a new subframe.
What do I do now

Buy a new rear subby and the parts you need to change it over the next few months and replace it when it is time. Once it has started rotting you can't stop it. Even if you paint it everywhere you can get at it will still rust between the web pressings and crumble away under the legs. We all have to change rear subframes matey, it is just the way of the world.
I don't trust hammerite (or smoothrite) for anything really. It doesn't stop rusting, it doesn't work as well as they claim without primer, and it is far too expensive. Smoothrite has been around for a very long time and no manufacturers ever decided it was the best thing to paint chassis' with. Chassis black is far better (and a hell of a lot cheaper).

I cant afford to replace the raer subframe, and I don think its desperate for the moment.
I have had some advice off another forum, after a month Ill attack the hammerite with a wire wheel on a drill. I have pictures of the rear subframe before I painted it so I know where the rust is, and apparantly where I've painted hammerite over the rust it should come of easily.
I will then use the drill with the wire wheel to get of all the rust and paint over theses patches (Which is what I should of done in the first place, DOH!)

Did some more work on on the drivers side rear arch today,
cleaned the radius arm of rust and some parts down to bare metal, then paited. might of slighty painted ointo some surface rust though, oops.
Not a big problem right?
Used the wire wheel to get the paint of aroudn the grease nipple, then wore away the rust and re painted. Also used the wire wheel on the area just left of the cone as you look into the arch face on, thats now painted too.
Noticed how parts of the subframe around there trapped the dirt really well
Also some lower parts of the subframe has quite flaky rust
Well, I will only be keeping the car for two or three years so hopefully it wont get too bad.
If someone could just verify what I've done is ok that woudl eb great, It'll all be hiddenonce the car is lowered, and its be a right pain so I wont be bothering with any of the other arches or front subframe.
If any rust does show I will use the wire wheel on that and paint that though
