It looks like a Nikki carb
They were aftermarket carb in the 70's.

Yeh, Nikki, been a few of them floating around recently. I have on in me garage, but I cannot find any details on how to set them up etc... All I have is an exploded parts diagram which I found on the web...
If anyone has got some jet setting details etc.. then would be much appreciated... I suspect the're faily similary to the down draft webbers and dellorto's , twin choke etc...

Best thing to do with a Nikki is bin it, they were not very good when new let alone 30 yeaars later.
IIRC you could not get any alternative jets for them. But they are very simalair Hitachi Carbs as fitted to toyotas and datsuns, might even be the same.
Fit an SU.

90 ant the flywheel is well within the realms of a good 1275+, well ported head, strong bottom end and decent cam...
The Nikki's have a massive choke, so the only hiderance to flow is the 2 x 90 degree bends the airflow has to take...
the simple answer is, does it feel like it's producing 90hp ?

these have been featured in miniworld twice and both times the technical advice person said they were rare but no where near as good as an su as there badly designed etc

IIRC they were an economy carb, not performance
I think you will find that they are Hitachi carbs fitted to Nissans, which look exactly the same as Nikki's. So at some time the name changed
