My friends mpi is reving to 2000rpm sometimes then when u drive it and change gear it cuts out any ideas
I havn`t looked at it yet as he`s on his way here

I had a look at it yesterday but found nothing.
at tickover it will be fine then it will suddenly start reving to about 2500rpm
Then when u drive it and pull up at a junction it stalls most of the time i thought it maybe an air leak but coundn`t find anything
Its a standard MPI fitted with cat back RC40,K&N filter and 1.5 roller rockers

All sorted,It was the idle speed sensor carboned up

Can you post a picture? Mine is a SPI, it almost did similar to what you have discribed. But it doesn't rev as high. It only touch to about 1300.

MPi has no similarities, physicaly, to the SPi
