Hello everyone...

MY info: I'm a 20 year old bloke learning to drive as from 7th Dec.

My first car IS going to be a mini (An old one, not those new scrap metal things!)

Nice site you have here by the way

Anyway a couple of Questions:

1. Is it easy to fit a decent sound system to an old Mini? Around the 1990 age.
2. Are 995cc Mini's cheap to insure? I have no convictions or points as its my first car...

Thanks in advance.

Mike

LOL welcome to the site, i didnt realise i posted just 998s, if you are on a budget, i suggest checkng the for sale section, or if you have a little more why not go for a stage 1 kit? £150 will get you a nice exhaust, filter element, needle manifold, and give you a 20% power increase and a 12% increase in torque

Welcome to the site.

Having a good sound system isnt a problem, just see the ICE section of the forum.

998cc Mini are cheap to insure but no the cheapest of cars.

Hunt round insurers and specialist mini insurers.

Oh and as your a member of TMF you cn get 15% off MiniWorld Insurance!!!!

Hi mate! it is easy to fit a sound system into a mini! just finding places to put it is the tricky part! you best bet is to get a mini world and mini magazeine, you will soon ge tan idea of prices for things alot of the nice bolt on bit are not to expensive BUT it all soon adds up lol welcome to the site!

the 998 is cheaper to insure that a 1275 and is a good engien if you look after it properly! the insurance shouldnt be to much as you are 20 and the insurance company will think you are a "sensible" driver....

Insurance isn't that bad at all for a Mini..

I'm looking into getting a 1275GT next year as my first car, and insurance is only £1300 (third party). Thats some £500 cheaper then a 1.4 Pug 106 :gasp:

The stage one is worth it. Recently had it done on a '92 City - only problem was the exhaust kept falling off!! The brackets sheared everytime there was engine movement. Just had new brackets made to fit the newer style rubbers to allow a little movement and we're now rockin' and rollin'. oh and had to replace the battery and the front earth strap - and now a rear shock is leaking........

dont ya just love them mini's....!!!!!!
