Apon inspecting the timing cover on my spi, it has like a slot for something next to the crankshaft pulley. I certainly looks like an ideal place to put a engine position sensor. But there is one mounted to the flywheel... So does it have any kind of use?

Never confirmed but It's believed to be used in the initial build of the engine.. but has no use beyond that.

Yep it was used by the factory to set the timing acurately. It was dropped on the MPi covers.

Funny thing, the MPi covers are around £40 new but all previous ones are about £100!!!!!!
