Hi all, finally getting round to actually posting progress made on my mini! I've seen others doing a similar thing to mine, so i thought now would be a good time to post.

Where better to start than the beginning? I bought the car a year and a half ago from a guy locally to me, a 94' Sprite in excellent condition, no rust at the time!

Heres what it started life as:

Even has the radio still!! As you can see it started life as a standard Sprite, minus a few decals.

After a few days of work, stickers removed, aerial gone, all radio traces removed etc etc (i was still unsure what i wanted out of the car)

Heres what the engine started life as:

Multiple replies due to max image count reached :)

And that awful standard Sprite interior (no offence to anyone still with it!)

Posted Image

After this, i didnt really take too many pictures of progress made, however here are a few snaps:

Rear lights have been changed, back seats were removed (never needed any use out of them) numberplate light painted etc:

Posted Image

I still wanted a remotely standard look so i opted for some cooper half leathers, because i liked the look of them

Posted Image

New crystal headlights, new mirrors that can actually be seen out of, etc.

Posted Image

I still dont really remember the exact order that everything so far has been carried out, but at christmas 2006 i decided that i would strip the entire car and stick a new engine in, a 1380 i got off Supermotolee (a very nice engine it is too!)

I rebuilt it after buying it, then stuck it in over christmas:

The story behind the primer is that basically i was far too impatient to paint it! Thats how eager i was :P

Engine primed ready for the painting which never took place:

Posted Image

Posted Image

New high 'power' battery - old one couldnt turn over the high compression of the new engine

Posted Image

My half created dashboard - carbon fibre switch panel with lots of switches :)
That white material you see was necessary because there was strength needed to hold the dials in place, the carbon
was simply not strong enough. Its a type of ultra lightweight plastic far stronger than carbon fibre :P
Note the paper tissue catching the oil leak from pressure gauge :D

Posted Image

Temporarily mounted rev counter:

Posted Image

No windscreen wipers - motor switch blown

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Buckets and harnesses required!

Posted Image

Number 3 also requirement :gimme: (fav number)

Posted Image

Those pics were taken for an agreed valuation, for insurance

There have been many things undocumented by pictures such as - entire suspension rebuild, replacing dampers and fitting hi-los with new cones all round, stronger tie rods

Replaced entire rear drum brake assemblies

Stripped car bare - literally every tiny unneccessary part has gone - headlining included, sun visors etc. No part left!
(highly inspired by MOWOG i must admit)

Alloy subframe mounts fitted, WnP arches, poly bushes everywhere..

As for present day, I am currently taking the tar soundproofing out from the floor (such a labour intensive job)
I broke the scraper handle so had to make a new one too!
This is still a work in progress, clearly:

Posted Image

Note poor angle grinding skills, first time for everything!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Carbon dash fitted finally!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Ill be cracking on with it for the rest of today, should have all tar removed from the floor by the end of today!
Also removing the headlining lip from around the top of the car, totally unneccessary!

Few random shots:

Many many long term plans for this summer, namely:

fit 10's (first need some 4 pots)

carbon front end and boot skin, possibly door cards not sure about those yet

polycarb windows (next couple of weeks!)

alloy hubs / flanges / drums :)

More to follow...

Looks really nice, but when you got it it didn't have the standard sprite engine as far as I can see - had undergone a carb conversion.
My '94 sprite was injection, so I'd be surprised if yours was meant to have a carb...
Boffins correct me!

Judging by the wiring i'd say origional carb cant remember date but his may be late registered or yours is early registered?
