Got this flasher unit out of my clubby, but have no idea where the connections were leading to.

It's a Mitsuba FR-9E flasher unit, up to 6 bulbs 85c/m.

At the bottom it has 3 spade connections forming a greek letter pi like this

from let to right the terminals are labelled X, P, L

Any ideas how I can connect this and whether I can use this as a hazard and indicator unit together?

Basically I'm rewiring my other car and this may come in helpful?

Thanks

I am not too sure but i think you will find the hazard warning lights and the indicators are on different circuits as they operate seperatley.Hopefully some one will be able to clarify good luck.

Flasher unit terminals normally use the same labeling. X is supply, L is output to indicator switch and P is single warning repeater lamp (which Mini's aren't wired for). It should say something like 6 X 21w + 2 X 5w. I don't think the 85c/m means anything, it is probably a part number. If it is for 6 X 21w then you can use it for both hazards and indicators and towing too, since you are wiring the car yourself (standard Mini wiring isn't designed to work like this). But you will need either a different hazard switch or some relays if you are using the Mini hazard switch. Its output for a single repeater can be used if you want, or you can use a repeater on each side as in standard spec. Let me know if you want a diagram.

It is odd that a 6 bulb flasher doesn't have a towing repeater output. This could be because it is fairly old as it does have the old British terminal labels, but it could be that it isn't from a car. It could be from a truck or industrial use which might mean that it doesn't flash at the right rate for use on the road. I don't know what the rules are on the surface of the sun but over here there are rules about the flash speed of an indicator.
