i currently have a 1.3spi cooper, and was wondering if i would be able to drop a carb engine in, but not have a carb, keep the injection system. or would i need to change the head and everything? its just i was thinking of an engine rebuild, and i thort rebuiloding a second engine was a better idea. also, who has done a complete engine rebuild? how much roughly would i be looking at? not replace much, just valves and give it a good going over and clean etc.

The injection engine is not exactly the same as carb'd A-series engines. But its mostly interchangeable parts on a SPi.

The flywheel is different as is the transfer caseing as there is a crank position sensor.

Breather arrangement is different.

How much it costs is a kinda how long is a piece of string question! What coniditon the engine your going to rebuild in decides the costs, but it all depends what needs doing and what you want to do on top of the bear minimum.

The valves for example should be ok, but the guids will be shot and the seats will need grinding back in...
