Could someone please tell me how the wires are arranged on the starter motor. I thought i took a photo before i took them off but ive forgotten. I know that one goes to the top bolt and that three more go onto the solenoid....i think....but which way round?

thanx

There should be a thick brown wire that goes on the same connection as the battery cable - on the solenoid.

Another terminal will make the solenoid go click that wants to go to the starter post on your ignition switch, think it's a red 'n white wire that should also supply a wire to your ignition coil, bypassing the ballast resistor, think that one's white 'n yellow.

There's also a short bridging cable from solenoid to the motor.

I'll have look for you tonight if its not raining.

Dont reconnect the battery untill you know as you will possibly fry the ECU

Isn't it just the earth wire that connects to the top mounting bolt....with the others going to the solenoid....could someone confirm this for me as i don't want to get it wrong....thanks :thumbsup:

My thoughts would be:
The two on the left to the copper coloured stud - one will be the main power feed, the other will be the feed to the alternator etc.
The earth strap, which looks like it needs a new ring terminal crimping on, can go to the main starter securing bolt - not to any connetion on the back of the starter or solenoid.

I presume the wire from the ignition barrel, with a large spade connector on the end, is already in place?

hey, ive recently bought a high torque starter motor an just wondering if anyone knows how to wire the thing! my stepdad said there are four wires and only two connection points on the starter motor, we know where three of the connections go, but the other is a tricky one! does anyone know about this spare wire?

let me know thanks
