Trace that must not be a nice job would hate having to deal with the family and that.
and i just noticed you joined same day as me ^_^ haha

believe it or not i have the best job in the world :D asside from the staff shortages and all the other C**p we have to put up with (mainly from patients expecting too much from us)....we arent superwomen...i can't see myself doing much else to be honest!

to be fair i dont know how you did that intensive care.... some of the things you told me about i think id either curl up in a corner n cry or throw up.....

here is a pic of ours in the body shop after a tranny reversed into it. taking out the lights the front panel and both wings. cant find any pics of it but basicly the van just pushed everything inwards.

Trace was driving at the time... even though it was a small bump she was pretty shaken.....

We were able to get it back on the road and its now looking alot healthier

It wasnt the bump that shook me up.....it was the bloke that came flying towards me shouting something along the lines of %$^%&*&%*£))*&%&£^%&^* (even though it was his fault)

Well, i'm glad i read through this thread! :D

Makes me want to sort out some extra strength in my mini. I love to take sunday drives down the lanes around plymouth but see a few chav's blasting their saxos sometimes...makes me think i need to do something.

Any tips on things you can do other than roll cages? Hear they bump up your insurance :S

Has anyone done a thread on a list of items and ways to make mini's safer? If not (search turned up nothing) I might start one.

There's relatifvely little you can do short of making sure your brakes are in good nick with regular checks, and make sure you NEVER drive when you're tired, drunk, drugged or under emotional stress.

i suppose there are things like door bars, roll cages and airbags...

Posted these before but happy to do it again....posting pics that is !!!

This happened many years ago.....9am large right hand bend....somehow ended up sideways on the wrong side of the road (can't remember it to this day) and was hit squarely on the passenger side by a Cortina !

The steel framed passenger bucket seat was ripped from its mounting and hit me on my left hand side breaking most of the bones:
Fractured skull
Broken collar bone
Broken arm
6 broken ribs
Punctured lung
Split diaphragm
Shattered femur (thigh bone)

Spent six days in intensive care and 2 & 1/2 weeks in hospital !!

Police could not work out how I had ended up where I did but found a boulder on my side of the road and put this down as the probable cause.....otherwise they would have charged me with dangerous driving !

And I still drive Mini's to this day !!!!! :)

you could of knoked that out with your hand,

:)

sory , looks nasty

this thread really hit home.
i had one of those presentations from our local fire Dept. at the end of year 11 back in the school days, theyre work well and i tell you what, its made a big diference towards my attitude on the road.

personally i think these presentations should be compulsary for anyone to pass their test.

you hear people all the time saying things like "look at my shiney new part, its much faster now" but its not often you hear people asking about how to make theyre mini safer.

i for one will be fitting a full if not half cage in my mini complete with other braces for support, for the sake of a few bits of paper its worth it.
