Hi fellow MINIacs. My name is Ash and I drive a 2003 LY/B MC with black bonnet stripes and a big 13. We recently arrived in the U.K. from San Antonio, Texas. "Yes, I'm a yank and yes my MINI is left-hand drive." My MINI "MoJo 13" and I are looking for some other MINI owners to run with on the weekends.
Last Sunday, I bought a 1983 Austin Mayfair for 750 pounds and named it DC. DC stands for "Demon Cramp", which by the way is what I got in my leg while driving him home. His silver (for the time being) with a 1000cc engine, which I hope to up grade. When I'm finish he will be red with white bonnet stripes.
Well, I hope to meet some of you in the near future.

Welcome to the Forum! There are a few of us Colonials on the Forum - one in Germany, me in the UK, and a few from the States that contribute regularly - and, of course, there's Sunshine - she's Canadian, but that's OK! :cheese: (Hi Terri! ). If you have any problem with the British terminology, give a shout - we've had ongoing discussions here about the difference between spanners and wrenches, so you can get some help there! Do you have any other experience with Minis besides your Mayfair and the BMW small car? You'll find all the help you need in these pages - many people wise in the wonders of the Mini!
Enjoy yourself, and again, welcome!

Thank y'all for the kind words. Y'all really know how to make a MINIac feel right at home. Yeah, I can't wait to meet all of you.
Right now I'm having MINI-withdraws as the club I came from usually has a meeting every Friday night and one major event (Run or Rally) a month. Right now I feel so alone on the MINI scene...no events, no meetings, no fellowship and no waving.
by the way -- am I doing something wrong by waving at other MINI owners? It seems every MINI I pass (Classic or BMW) will not wave back. Have the MINI owners in the UK become complacent in their MINI fellowship?
About the TERM: we'll I think I have most of them down. My wife and I lived in Bedfordshire back in 1990 - 95. That is where we started our MINI-crazed life. She bought a 1970 Morris Minor, which we loved to death. Sadly we had to sell it on our return to the states.
Again thanks of the warm welcome and information. Hope to meet you in the near future.

Hey, if you're in a left hooker, they probably cant see you waving , try flashing.
+ no BINI's dont wave / flash back - they're too stuck up.

Ah yes, this I failed to notice.
Ignore previous post.
Begin new post.
You wont get any BINI's to wave you when driving your BINI because BINI drivers are too stuck up, and MINI drivers generally despise the BINI.

First and foremost "I am a MINIac!" I love all MINIs and their owners, rather Classic or BINIs (as U call them). To me it’s all about the fellowship among owners and proud heritage of the MINIs.
Why is there so much haltered between the two MINIs? States side, all MINIs ride as equals not enemies. The BINI is not a upper class vehicle, rather a inexpensive mode of transportation.
If I pass you, I will wave and flash my lights whichever MINI I'm Motoring in at the time.

Yes, and for most of us that's just fine. Thing is there are a foolish few who don't like the new MINI seeing it as an invader (this is home territory remember), and most drivers of the new one don't know or care about the heritage of the Mini so they don't understand why you are flashing them in the first place!

How sad for them not to know or understand the MINI heritage.
The whole day was spent tending to the rust and tuning the engine of my classic. "DC" my MINI, will need a lots of love and attention before it can come out and play with others.
