yo

what would fitting a single weber do to the insurance?

what would a 1275 head do?

what would a 1000 / 1275 gearbox do?

what would a bigger SU do?

oil cooler?

etc etc

any good insurance friendly mods?

ummm not sure where this is going but i fit a 12g940 head on my mini and bent the valves... doh!

best bet is to look for a 12g295 which is a 998 cooper head.
rather than choke an 850 to death with a weber i would get a 1 1/2" SU and go for a ram pipe with filter... as for anything else higer compression ratio will do it good.

what do you think rich?

All good mate...

Weber would be an over kill unless it was a full race motor. Different gearbox would only be good if you know what F/D you want, in which case, just change the crown wheel and pinion in the one you've got. An oil cooler will cool the oil, thats about all there is to be said bout them... :)

Once again, the insurance will class it as modified if you change any of the engine componants for higher spec parts, making your premium go up.

just change it for a stg 1 1275 spray the block the colour of the 850, change the engine numbers(with help of angle grinder and number stamps), then tell the insurance you have got a stg 1 kit on your 850, hey presto, jobs a good un! :)
think i may try that with my thou. but im goin to 1340. :)

Just a note, insurance fiddling may happen, but please watch what is said about engine number swapping and stuff because you never know who might be reading it, and it could cause probs or give people the wrong impression. Try and keep that sort of stuff to PM's guys...

was not bein serious! :)
its dangerous to do that as well as illegal!
not worth the risk of doin it for the cost of a 1275 mini anyway.
