I had been running the engine, without the breather connected to carb. The inlet for the breather on the carb is NOT blocked off. I looked at blocking it off as someone suggested it would run better this way....so i was out looking about and the breather tubing i had left connected. Looking at the end of it, theres a creamy white substance and some oil/petrol in there?
Should i worry about the white stuff? I shone a lift into the rocker cap, the rockers seem fine.
Its been low on oil for about a week, due to me getting oil from my dad, who's business gets it direct from a supplier. I use castrol gtx 10/40 if i remember correctly.

white stuff in the engine, means that somewhere you have had water and oil mixing together, makes a lovely creamy white substance in the car.
this normally happens when you have a head gasket start to go or has gone.
check you coolant reservoir for any similar signs, and remove your rocker cover and have a look you will see more than just looking in the oil filler cap.
Have you been loosing power or performance out of the car?
Do you know when the head gasket was last changed? sometimes people don't allways flush out the engine properlly after changing a headgasket and you can still have residual white froth in it which will come to an opening in the end..say a breather or your coolant reservoir

The white 'stuff' is emulsifed oil, whick can be caused by the head gasket leaking. But in this weather its normally caused by the engine not reaching normal running temp and short runs. It takes around 10 miles for the engine to reach its running temp.

ah right.
Cant say when Head gasket was last changed, i bought the engine in augest and the guy said it was sound and was removed from a car afew months before.
Will take a better look tomorrow, but i have been short running and espically at night (coming home from g/f's n work etc...).
Cheers guys.

If you are not using any water it can't be leaking into the water jacket = head gasket is fine.
Clean the breather and give it some longer runs, not just round to Kanes and back

Just a wild guess.
Freeport and Ponti are only short runs
Yes I will have them, how much do you want?

May sound like a daft question but here it goes, the pipe was disconnected at one end wasnt it, couldnt the white gunk be the air mixing with the oil... there is moisture in the air after all.
Slap me if im wrong.

Seems to be clearer. Havent removed the rocker cover yet, but i've added more oil.
When engine cools i will check the water level and remove the rocker cover. Might go wash the car for a change now....lol....
