Was cutting my front arches today to stop wheel rubbing, and after I cut it there's only about a cm left until the arch mounting holes!! (angle grinders aren't too accurate you see!)
I tried pressing on the panel a few times and couldn't really see a difference between where there was a lip or not... So is it really that necessary to bend up a lip?
I think I asked this before, but the search function seems to be letting me down today :\

the lip is there to stop the wing slashing your tyres when the suspension is at full compression

I'll leave it then until I'm able to get my hands on some GP2s. Ill just put a hard door seal on the wing edge to prevent it from touching the wheel (although to be honest if it compresses that much I'm sure there will be more damage than just the tyre heh

To be on the safe side do the right thing and bend a lip at the end (i.e. don't cut as much as I did!)

the lip also provides a lot of strength to wheel arch on the wing
