Not sure whats up, but basically when i turn on the ignition the SRS light on the dash comes on for 5 seconds like its supposed to, then goes off, then immediatley comes on again and stays on constantly!
I know there is no chance of the airbag popping out randomly but i need to get this sorted... Anybody know if this is a common problem??

I think the reason its happened is because i slammed my hand on the steering wheel becuase there was an Audi driver in front displaying some seriously bad driving skills.. it cant of been coincedence that the light came on about 3 minutes after..

Its a common fault and annoying. I think they all do it. I've had mine sorted out many many times, the mechanic attaches some sort of electronic fault finding box and goes from there, but it always comes back on later on.

I've just learned to live with it on, I don't THINK its safety issue though, but I could be wrong.

Mine has never come back on again. >_<
The Book-of-Words says you're supposed to have it seen to if it ever does, and SRS requires a service every ten years, not that many people do....

The Explosive devices need replacing every ten years as the can become unstable and go off without warning, hence why they should be replace every ten years before they do decide to go off. If you ingore these manufacturer warnings, then expect a premature airbag deployment in the near future.

Any SRS system fault should only be looked at by a specialist for obvious reasons, the explosive devices can easily take your hand off!!!

When I say specialist, i mean a garage that specificaly deals with problems on EMS and SRS

LOL, if Minisport are anything to go by, diagnosing a fault on a 92 SPi, costing the customer in excess of £500 over five visits, two melted cats, 8 weeks gone and it still was the exact same, then i have a look, find the fault in 10 minuits, where THE fault was a switch that costs about £20. Id expect P&L to be worse considering Minisport having an indepth knowledge of SPi systems.

I've been told is can be to do with the loom connector for the SRS control box thats sits under the driver side rear seat. pull up the carpet, disconnect, check the points and plug back in - my SRS lights doing the same thing.

Funnily enough it stopped after I had my last MOT - if only for 50 miles.

There is a solution.

Bin the steering wheel and get a nice motolita one.

Seriously have it looked at by a proper garage.

I believe if the SRS light is on the airbags are disabled so i would say it WAS something to worry about. The SRS light is controlled by the SRS control module, therefore if the light is on, there is a problem.

Rovers wiring is not that shody, besides, if it is a wiring fault, why not fix it, most likely place to look is the seat connections and the rotary coupler on the steering wheel.

Do the SRS Control modules throw up the warning light when the airbags and pretentioners are due for replacement?? I wonder!!
