Can you get a bog standard (non cooper) spi ecu chhipped/remapped?
If you can anyone know where to get it done?

You can however buy the Superchips Icon Race, but this only alters the ignition, not the fueling and at near £300 you can buy a programable ECU for that.
The modifications to the engine need to be high end to get any advantage from your £300 Superchips Icon though, result can be had without it, its only good for about 5bhp max.

And what would a progammable ecu cost?
also what would be involved to progamme it? having a laptop and/or does it come with settings already installed?

I have a piggyback programable ECU for the rover SPi if you're interested. It come s with the modified loom to connect it up - Can't remember the make tho - I can look it up if you're interested. It came with a std SPi with MED phase 3 head I converted to carb.
