Well, as mentioned earlier, here is a list of good sources of information that Mini owners should read.

Tuning BL's A Series Engine by David Vizard,

How To Modify Your Mini by David Vizard,

The trusty Haynes Manual by, well, Haynes. <--contains some useful information, great for home-servicing and repairs,

PM me some more or copy and paste and add to the list, links too!

EDIT: And I may add links to Amazon for the books that are still available too.

It's definitely worth buying this book too: -

Especially if you're a beginner or novice looking to service and maintain you're Mini, because it taught me loads and together with the Mini Haynes manual I was also able to effectively set the valve clearances (tappets) on my Mini. Thanks to it's clearly written text and dozens of clearly illustrated pictures, It just makes things appear easy and in most cases they are.

You can buy it new from here: -

Mini Service/Repair Manual Via Amazon link

Or much cheaper via e-Bay and this one didn't sell even though they weren't asking for much: -

Mini Service/Repair Manual Via e-Bay link

I was very tempted to buy a second as a spare, but I don't think the misses would be too happy and it says up to 1995 (which really stands for the fact that was when it was first published), but a lot of what's written relates to all Mini models.

:D

People of TMF's technical and problems section, please read on.

I have recently removed several links from this site because they cause us potential legal issues.

Haynes manuals are a copyrighted document/book. They belong to Haynes publishing and therefore any links to pdf versions of the books are potentially going to cause us (as a forum) legal issues.

We can't allow the forum to be put at risk of legal action from publishing companies, so please do not link to any illegal copies of this type of manual, whether it be a Haynes or similar. I know that you're trying to help, but we don't want the site being reprimanded for these issues.

Any links that are posted should be reported so that they can be edited/removed.

Thanks, Matt

So what's better, Tuning the A-Series Engine or How to Modify Your Mini, both by David Vizard??

um depends what you are after!

the tuning the a-series is just about the engines - tells you modifications (but doesnt go anywhere into detail about good engine building)

the how to modify your mini, covers other areas of the car (but not engines in great detail)

both are really old now, and things have moved on a lot, but both are a worthwhile read..
