i need a new manifold as mine is blowing, and want to get an rc40 exhaust anyway. 2 questions, what will i need,ie, manifold, exhaust and do i need a link pipe? i will also be keeping the cat.
and 2, how easy will it be to do myself in a normal garage? is it a pain to get to places? i am fairly able, and have my dad to help, just dont want to start something that may not be finishable.
so any past experiences or tips would be greatly recieved!!

I am thinking about doing this myself on mine so any advice will be good, dont want to replace too much tho, dont want to nearly put a stage one on without the needle and filter!

Really you want the full system manifold, linkpipes and backbox. There is several good places to get them all advertised in the mini mags just tell them that you want to retain the cat when you order it and they should send you the right link pipes and fittings. It is not that difficult to fit even if your doing it for the first time you should be able to do it in a day. Are you planning to fit a side exit or a centre exit sytem?

An LCB with a lambda sensor boss (and you should have a sampling pipe too since it's an SPi),
An LCB to CAT ball-joint pipe
Your choice of single or twin, small or large RC40 boxes to fit behind the CAT
Lambda sensor extension cable (possibly)
Gaskets and fittings

The RC40 is made by Minispares so get it from them if it's an RC40 you want, so check their website (or better still, the real catalogue if you have it) for it and you should find info about all the different parts available for the system.

Mini Spares Centre link.

Ok, im confused, i found an old mini mag which had the catalogue in, and there was a part which said the average mpg was 47!! i thought mpg went down with a stage one not up, mine only does around 35-40.

Well, if yours is a small bore then it needs a tune up. A City E should be returning 45-50 MPG and can get over 50 on a good day.

But then a lot depends on how you drive it.

Well then ill change the points condenser and dizzy cap and see what happens then, if no improvement then ill search for a rolling road.

Oh yeah....

Phone Minispares, they'll send you a printed accessories catalogue. I think they cost about two quid.

changin the manifold is the hard part due to the inlet manifod being in the way. The rest is *yellow human water* easy.

Oh, and for gods sake remove the cat, its a pain in the arse and takes 20 mins to change it back for mot time. Much better throttle response and better breathing. Made a marked difference on mine when I removed it.

is it easy to take the inlet manifold off then? i only get 30 mpg, if that at the moment......hmmm.....hope the new exhaust will make a difference.
