Matilda Says "kerchunk"

Matilda's gearbox seems fine...going through the "gate" is all nice and smooth & the clutch seems to be OK, but when I'm selecting a higher gear, there is a pronounced "kerchunk" as the higher gear is engaged. I can't feel any resistance in the gearbox, nothing, just this noise.
It's just as smooth but completely silent when selecting a lower gear, so what's going on?
Any ideas, please?

Try double declutching and just pumping the clutch pedal see if it makes any difference.
Having had a little thunk it could be as simple as and engine steady or exhaust issue - see if you can make her do it by just declutching, kinda doing a gear change into the same gear without touching the gear stick.

Clutch I reckon - especially if it's all gears

I tried double declutching, no change. I also tried changing into the same gear & it's silent. It's only ever on an upshift....
Oh, I get it, so you're saying it clunks into gear on upshift, but doesn't seem to do it on downshift?

Hmm, how does yer clutch pedal feel? Not any spongier than normal?
Clutch is fine. Gearbox is fine. She's just been serviced.......

clunks when you let the clutch out or when you move the gearstick from neutral in to the higher gear?
Id does sound like a bit of clutch drag.

Wasn't clear on what you meant by engage gear Juju:
clunks when you let the clutch out or when you move the gearstick from neutral in to the higher gear?

Clunks when I move the gearstick from neutral to a higher gear. Does this make any sense?

It makes me think it's much more likely to be the clutch dragging an iddy biddy amount - I wonder if they fiddled with the throw out stop when they did the service?
Translation, please? Me's a thicko...
Does it make a difference how quickly you try to change gear, when I try changing gear quickly and pull the clutch up fast it makes a funny noise. Never makes it when I change gear normally so I've stopped trying to do fast changes.
I've tried Granny-driving, and it doesn't really affect the noise.

If it happens on all gears it's very unlikely it's anything in the gearbox as they are all separate and 2nd 'n 3rd are obviously working well enough when engaged from a higher gear. If it is the clutch you should find using a little more or less revs before changing gear makes a difference.

The throw out stop is the big nut in the middle of the clutch cover, it basically stops the clutch being pushed in more than is necessary so you don't push the crankshaft into its bearings. If it's screwed in to far it would stop the clutch from fully disengaging.

Mmmkay. That just about computes in my noodle. Fanks Effel.
I shall try less revs on the way home & see what Matilda says. Admittedly I have been ragging her a bit trying to get to work on-call, so maybe it's my fault........
