A belated update.
The car was finished late last year and hit the road in January 2006. The year's been spent testing, autocross, and a track day coming up next month.
For those not familar with the car, it's carbon-bodied, tube-frame, mid-engine Honda Prelude powered. Performance numbers, so far, are 3.9s 0-60, and a fairly certain mid-12sec 1/4 mile. It's main purpose though is autocrossing and track days.
You can spend hours reading through the site...

Great build site! You aren't by any chance selling plans for the chassis are you?

Hi Bud, I love to meet up once my Mini has Been finished. Am moving to Alberta in June next year, so could be fun. Bike versus Honda engined Minis hitting the California Drag Strips, what would the average V8 driver make of us Beating them in the Quarter.......
I see Z Cars lock of the first 2 gears in the Honda Powered Monty Carlo... So they only use 3-4-5-6....
Whats your Box like in 1st and 2nd ??

Sorry, no chassis plans. Not much point though since everyone has a different set of parts they want to use.
First gear is only good for starting up on steep hills or in very slow traffic.
Second gear is my "normal" starting gear. It's how I get that 3.9sec 0-60 time - no shifting.
60mph is about 3800rpm in 5th. People say I should install a lower final drive gear set but there simply aren't any. The ones out there are numerically higher - the wrong direction for me. It's just not a big enough concern for me.
With the brick-like shape, 200hp pushes it to around 130mph. Coincidentally it's the same speed where I run out of gears, so I'm fine with it.

Oh, I know someone somewhere has one. Between the cost, labor, time, and because it'll likely make the car slower (due to shifting more) I'm not motivated to go through with it. I just want to drive it for a while first before messing with it again!
