Hi
I am fairly new but have been lurking awhile. Just thought I would let everyone know that I finally have my new (second-hand) Mini. Its a burnt orange metalic 1.3i non cooper (although I believe it has same engine, just no lamps and stripes.
I still cant get over how good nic it is in. I found it at a Garage in Sheffield in a very small typed advert and the page was printed upside down. I bided my time and waited months for the right one after having a price shock at P&L Minis.
The car had just been brought in to the garage a day before and the owner said the phones were red hot for it, a lot called while I was there (I suppose it could have been a rouse to get me to buy it.
I looked over the car for ages in ever spot inside and out that I could think of but only found a few rust bubbles under the fr windscreen (paint still there but an inch spare of bubbles) Do you think I should get that done or leave it fir now?. It is spotless inside and out. Apparently the previous owner cherished the car being kept under cover and having a service ever 2-3000 mile (full service book) I also have all the MOT’s from birth which verify the milage well along side the service records.. It only has 15000miles on the clock
On the one hand I am extremely happy but cannot help thinking it must have been done up because it is too good. Are there many origional 97 car this good because I could never find one? I have seen worse y2k minis. I have looked around underneath and even the greasing points still have bags of clean grease on them
Its totally standard metallic orange, airbaged, 1.3. It drives great. I had forgotten how fantastic these cars are I have had at least ten cars since my last Mini but it was worth the wait. It makes my Mondeo estate feel like a tank (a boring one)
I have been going out driving with my son (12) who is a mini fanatic. His bedroom is a shrine to old minis. We laugh on every journey I think the best treatment for depressions would be driving Mini, its an instant high.
Thanks for making me enthusiastic.
I live in the South Yorkshire, Doncaster, is there any clubs around this area, I would love to join one, go to some shows and runs with likeminded people. Thing is my Mini is standard (only shiny) does a car have to be modded to get into the scene. I would rather leave mine “as is” because its so fresh.
Thanks for listening
Any info on local clubs would be helpful
sorry for being long winded.

Thanks
Next job is to put in my new Blaupunkt MP3 Head Unit and a pair of Alpine speakers. Don't think I will do anything else except maybe some chrome/stainless wheel arches and rails because I am not keen on the standard black ones.

That is a very mint mini! I wouldn't modify it if I were you, it looks lovely.
P.S. Burnt orange is one of the best colours ever put on a mini IMHO
