What year is it? Is it a petrol turbo or deisel? My dad has a Saab 95 turbo deisel and its not the bhp you want to concern yourself with but the amount of torque! They make for excellent motorway cruising cars.

Me and the missus are thinking of buying a SAAB at the moment. I like them, but we're sorta decided on either a 3 door one or a convertible.
I like the 93 and the 95 really, but they do some odd colours! Especially that horse pee yellow one they do!

And in answer to the original question, on the grand scale of things 185bhp means squat.
I mean, if you look at how much the SAAB weighs it's not that much top end power. However, I believe the SAAB 93 turbos are quite a torquey machine.

I have a 98 9-3 high output (so 185bhp) and yes 185 is enough the chassis needs a little tweaking to get it to go round bends but some very simple things improve matters no end
rear anti roll bar needs upgrading which is either £100 or if you get another standard one and double it up ie put both on it costs £10 ! and stops the front end diving into bends
steering rack clamp is £100 but really improves the feeling and handling
various other things like poly mounts etc can also be done depends what you want
The space inside is great I can get two downhill mountain bikes in the boot with the seats up and the parcel shelf in place, really comfy also drove 16hrs to south of france no problem
uber reliable
but you can eat the tyres if you enjoy your driving

185 is alright, nothing too lairy, will make for a good motorway cruiser.
Has to be said though, for the money, i'd go for a Volvo S70 T5 or even an 850 T5. I had a 1996 850 T5 Auto and it was phenominal, so much tourque (310nm) and 225bhp, well until i wound the bost up, was an absolute flyer.
What made it better was the fact that it was an auto, kickdowns helped when it came to cornering, so predictable, turn in, boot it, apply full lock, gently steer round the bend, then look in your rear view mirror at the ammount of tyre smoke you've left behind
