Had an awesome weekend away at the National Mini & Metro Show at The British Motor Museum. Lots of miles driven, first time visiting... fantastic museum!!

Set off Friday night after work and setup camp around halfway, in Gloucester. Amazing weather.

Camping at the museum. Arrived around 5pm and was blessed with more amazing weather.

a few short rain showers on Sunday but luckily nothing too heavy to ruin the day.

Awesome to see the Monte Carlo cars in the flesh! I must have spent a good half hour looking at all the details of 33 EJB that id previously read about in the books and magazines.

That's all the photos i ended up with unfortunately.

My mini run lovely all weekend, but did develop a leak from the speedo drive pinion seal that i noticed on the way home.

I also found that my clutch housing breather filter had clogged, I was aware that this could and probably would eventually happen. Would anyone know if the clogging of the filter could have possibly caused more pressure and forced oil out of the seal? :ermm: The seal was a new item from Minispares and has done around 1000 miles.

I've wanted to do away with the small filter directly on top of the breather for a while and pipe to a small catch tank, so I spent a few hours after work fabricating a small steel catch tank...

Here is how im going to pipe it in... minus the blue hose, ill change these for black and Ill paint the catch tank black also, see how it goes. I've also welded in a captive nut inside at the bottom of the tank and used an allen bolt as drain point.

The question is, do I also pipe in a breather directly from the rocker cover as the clutch housing breather is the only one i have on the engine...?

I like to feed the vapours to the engine. Is the tank baffled or full of steel wool to condense the vapours?Just my 2p.Steve..

So, would you feed into the rocker cover or carb and just do away with tank?

Supposed to suck air into the engine via a vented oil cap causing a vacuum in the crankcase and then into the carb to be burnt into the motor reducing pollution. The breathers have mesh to help condense the oil vapours to run back into the sump.I would not touch the rocker cover at all and vent the catch tank into the air filter or carb.
Some competition engines vent to atmosphere via a catch tank.I try to be responsible in emissions terms as far as reasonably practicable.Steve..

Probably should have posted these before now as our wedding was 31.08.19... the Mini was our wedding car along side my wife's fathers Escort...
The crazy thing is, we both met each other through chatting on The Mini Forum!
