what sort of times would i be looking at 0-60 for a 1380 or a 1.3turbo? nothing super modified, just a rough estimate

Max that's really optimistic... a 1380 (mild tuned, nothing major) rebuilt engine gives around 9 seconds from what I hear...

Depending on head might give low to high 8's, and a turbo would be pretty much the same!

Still nowhere near the figures for what many other cheaper more modern cars will do, but keep in mind that a tuned turbo can give 6 seconds 0-60 on street tyres (this is 1293cc, rebuilt completely with good pistons, flowed head, and higher boost, to about 110-120 horses).
The fastest turbos right now give about low-mid fives on racing tyres... so don't expect Porsche killing numbers.

So between 110 and 130 bhp I would be looking at about a 6 second 0-60?! Interesting.

LOL, hmmm, there isn't many places round my way I could test it accurately, am going to wait for a track or a theorectical figure from a rolling road!

I bought a Gmax performance meter of ebay , they say it is more accurate than a rolling road (which is not hard , it depends on how its calibrated)
it has been tested on a few cars now and the results are very good , the figures are pretty much agreeing with what the rolling road print-out says for each car
havent tried it on my mini yet as i have no fag lighter :)
and my mini 1275 MG stage one did a 10.27 for the 0 to 60 at silverstone
full of camping gear :)

my stage 1 998 does it in 13.72. this has beaten a couple of std 1275's off the lights! i have one of these gtech meters too. they are very accurate you just have to make sure the ground is flat

depends, some engines are dogs... some are very very torquey due to past use/build quality etc

and that 1275 figure was accurate, its flappys old engine he blew up... and i had a completely standard 1275 (verified by engine strip) that had MORE power... LOL

Got the figures for my 1/4 miles in front of me and @ 1/8th mile (660 feet) I was toping 65mph in just under 10 secs, with a 1330, and I was getting well beat by some 1380's
