NO FUEL DAY - MONDAY 19th NOVEMBER 2007

THE UK GOVERNMENT'S FURTHER TAX INCREASE ON FUEL HAS TAKEN THE AVERAGE PRICE OF UNLEADED TO NEAR THE £1 A LITRE BARRIER!

THEREFORE 'MONDAY NOVEMBER 19TH' HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR ARSE " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF FUEL THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS TO THIS GROUP AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WITHOUT TAKING ACTION THE PRICE PER LITRE WILL CONTINUE TO RISE.

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF FUEL GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, ROAD HAULAGE COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! OUR WAGES WILL NOT BE RISING AT THE SAME RATE EITHER!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THE GOVERNMENT DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN!

Personally i think its a really good idea if everyone did it! Then the price would have to come down i guess! Its annoying becuase my boyfriend is always talking about doing something similar (he proberly set it up and going to prison :withstupid: ) Dont think enough people will do it though!!

opinions please ....

I promise not to (buy any fuel on that day). Huey is off the road and I won't be in the UK anyway.

what message is the "government" gonna get? that if you don't buy fuel that day, they will charge more for the money they lost the day after? that you'll need to buy fuel sooner or later?

it's a good cause, but i just don't think it would effect anything.

go buy a hybrid with a plug in conversion if you want to help.

p.s. when i say "you", its not personal

But even if you dont buy it that day, people will have to buy it the day after or fill up the day before.

So what exactly is the point. They'll still get their money.

the only way this will work is if the lorry drivers get involved again and block the fuel deports

I think what you need is for lorrys not to move, you dont need to block fuel depots then, if every lorry/van stayed put for a day or two the country would be on its knees.

only problem is your never get everyone stick to it and the goverment know this. and yes i am talking from experience, im a lorry driver and was one of those that blocked the depots seven years ago. the first couple of days the public were with us but as soon as they began to realize they wouldnt be able to do anything they started to go against us.

or this might work

Subject: Fwd: Fw: Petrol price reduction

READ THIS...
See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it....
We are hitting 99.9p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced

with paying over £1 a litre!!!!
(This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain day

campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just
laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by
refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a
problem for them.)

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that just

might really work.
Please read it and join in!
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to

think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action
to teach them that BUYERS control the market place, not sellers. With the
price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit
someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that
WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, if
you can avoid it, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil
companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any
petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their
prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact
we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's
really simple to do!!
>
> Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how

simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot
of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)...
and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so
on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will
have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get
excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will
have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....THREE
HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

> Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all (and

not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this
email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION
people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting
together we can make a difference If this makes sense to you, please pass
this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a
LITRE RANGE. It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and
buy your petrol at Shell, Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e.
boycott BP and Esso.

copy and paste it into an email so people know

Well I happen to think we should pay heavily for fuel.

It has to be the fairest way to share the cost of using our roads:

Drive more - you pay more

Drive a thirsty polluting vehicle - pay more

It also involves much less bureaucracy then road tax.

I know some people have to drive for a living but we have to do something to challenge people who commute big distances by car every day; get reps out of their cars and on to the phone or internet; challenge the practice of Supermarkets conveying milk and spuds from one end of the country to the other and back again.

We could provide tax breaks in other areas to offset the added costs where there's a genuine need. Wouldn't our hauliers be more competitive on the continent if they weren't also paying tax to drive on UK roads while they are there?

I personally do not care, as any extra cost is past onto my clients. I buy fuel as and when I need it, my normal bill is over £1000 per month.

However what I do think is that there should be 2 levels of taxation one for us commercial users, naturally a far lower rate and one for the general public in there cars.

All I will say is wait there is some action in the pipe line, and if it all goes off it will bring the roads to a stand still.

Road tax should be scrapped and a couple of pence per litre should be added to the litree thus ensuring those who iuse the roads more pay for it

Agree on the road tax but why would business drivers get a preferential rate? Don't they need encouraging to make better transport choices too?

Besides any concession would end up being abused, like those Porsche Minicabs not paying the congestion charge.
