hi,
i've got a mini without airbag....but want a steering wheel from a newer mini,but they all have airbags!does this matter?would it fit straight on?

It's pretty dangerous to have an airbag in front of you if it isn't plugged into an SRS computer which will keep it under control. I wouldn't do it just for the look of the wheel.
But no, it doesn't fit the older column anyway.

got another question about the steering wheel.....
my mini is 1993 so would it fit if i fitted an SRS control unit?there is a 2nd hand unti for sale on ebay....would it be difficult to add this or not?

Don't be silly, you don't want to be playing with explosives in your car.
It would be really quite hard to fit the SRS sytem safely and reliably to a car which hasn't been designed for it. And you need a whole new steering column too. When I re-shelled my car I looked into fitting the Airbag system to make it modern and safe, and even with a new heritage shell it's complicated.

A friend of mine once bought a steering wheel for his car, it came with an airbag still in it. He took it down to the local garage and they apparently hooked it up to a nine volt battery and detonated it. After that we just cut the airbag out and glued the cover back over the hole, and it looked as good as new.... Just a thought
