Hi,

found the site while trying to find info. my brother and i are going to be building a track mini for a bit of fun. hes an apprentice engineer and im a general petrol head. i have a few questions at the moment but im sure given time there will be loads more

firstly we are going to convert it to rear wheel drive, what is the best rear axle for this, and the best way to go about it (attach it to the existing sub frame?)

secondly we are toying with the idea of making it mid engined, has this been done before?

thirdly what are the possibilities of keeping it front engined with rear wheel drive?

obviously we will be putting a bigger engine in it, so that something to encounter when we come to it! were thinking of around the 2 litre mark but will look more at it shortly.

whats the most common engine transplants and power outputs?

sorry about all the quetions, just want to get a good idea of things rather than jumping in head first and messing it all up!

cheers guys n gals

Andy

I think the most common rear wheel drive rear/mid engine engine would be the bike engine conversion, at least two of which are in the Projects section at the mo (although one is a pick up). The most common conventional engine transplants are the Vauxhaul or V-tec engines (not sure if you can get a 2 litre V-tec in there). Most of these however are front wheel drive with the engine up the front. I'm sure one of them has probably been put in the back, but this would be rare. As for front engine, rear wheel drive, again quite rare but I know its been done before, there should be other people on here that will know more about that conversion.
