For a good week now my chest between the lungs right down to my diaphragm has been hurting whenever I eat or drink. Now a week or two back I did nearly choke when some water went down the wrong way, and I coughed rather violently so I thought I might have strained a muscle or something, but it doesn't feel like its been getting any better!

I have been working out in a cold garage for a little while and now think I also have a mild cold which probably isn't helping matters.

I do get really hungry, but then just lose my apetite really easily when I start eating.

So a couple of people have said they think I have a chest infection and that I should go see a doctor. My dad had pneumonia a couple of years back and I think he suffered from a loss of apetite too. Personally I think you should only bother going to a doctor if your arm is hanging off.

Anyone like to confirm whether they think its a chest infection I have? Or whether its serious enough to warrent a trip to Mr Latex Gloves?

If in doubt, go to the Doctors. It's possible that you've strained something yeah, but a chest infection is also possible.

You're not getting some kind of indigestion symptom are you?

A chest infection will hurt, and you'll have a painful cough most of the time. I'd say going from your symptoms that you should go and see the Dr anyway Jammy. It's more than just a cold so definitely not just a waste of time.

Pah! Y'all wimps! ;D

Ok, ok, I'll go and see the Doc! :P

To answer a couple of the questions, I do have a chesty cough at the mo, but wasn't sure whether that was just the cold (although I don't feel that nasely), but I have been sneezing a little bit more than usual lately (but not a great deal).

Its more a case I think that my cheat and stomach begin to ache after a few minutes of eating, and things like a cuppa tea, or orange juice can hurt to drink. I suppose you could describe that as indigestion type symptons.

See, thats the thing. I canne be bothered to take a trip to the doctors if they are just going to give me a couple of pills to take everyday, but as others have said, just in case its something worse I'll go.

You're describing the symptoms of hundreds of possible causes.... the thing that springs to my mind is a Hiatus Hernia, increase in stomach acids, or possibly a small Ulcer.... Hopefuly it's just a mild chest infection or torn muscle though.

Go and see the Dr, that's what he's there for.... if he says you're fine, that's even better! ;D

One of the big Meningitus outbreaks a few years ago was at my school in Manchester. One of the 6th formers died! :dongetit: I remember the Friday the news swept around the school, loads of kids went home at lunch, but the teachers were trying to make everyone stay!
