I found a website ages ago, with drawings on to make a stand that a stripped out shell would go on, to enable you to work on the shell dead easy, you could turn it as well so you can work on the under neith easy, It was basicly a spitt.

Anyone made one or know the website?

Edit: Sorry iv found it...

Im sure loads of people will find this useful if you have not seen it befor!

Yep, made one a few weeks ago. Long scaffolding pole and a scaffolding clamp split in half to lock the pole. The two A frames were being thrown out from work and still had the casters on them. Yet to make the plates that bolt to the shell.

There's another 'spit roaster' - recent post about mini dimensions had a link.

I was also giving it some thought 'n wondered if you could build 2 stands round some stub axles to bolt to the subframe mountings - so the pole can be dispensed with.

ive borrowed of a mate on that bolts to your hubs that allows you to tio the car on to its side the only propb is your subbframes have to be on so it makes routing lines n cables a problem

The benifit of making it like mine is theres no holes to cut through the back seat and loads of brackets to bolt everywhere. Hence why i made mine like i did. All in all cost about £60 in steel and a few evenings to weld up.

Couple more pics:

There should be a hole in the mini anyway, Front binnicle hole and hole in rear seat back

They stopped putting holes in the rear seat in about '76. I've seen scaffolding poles bolted to the rear parcel shelf but that's a bit high to get the center of gravity right.
Got my shell up on the spit Tuesday night and it works a treat! No more crawling under a car trying to clean and weld against gravity.

yes solarB is right that they quit putting the holes in the backseat but it was sooner than 76 as my 73 has no hole so i built a bracket and mounted it onb the rear shelf... admitadelly the center of gravity is a little off but it still works brilliantly and theres no need for holes to be cut in the seat back....
