Hi everyone. My name is Derek. I live in the US and got interested in minis a year ago. Just reading along. I plan on getting a 79 mini in July(steering wheel on the correct side RHD) I can't wait and already have a huge list of things to do on it. I hope I can find some useful tips and maybe be of help to someone.

Well thank you. I'm going to sit in(hopefully) my first classic mini tomorrow. A friend of mine has one and I'm gonna go check it out. So excited.

ah, they are excellent cars, make sure he/she takes you out for a drive in it and show you how great it handles compared to other cars.

Hehe I already know they handle well. But a test drive is a good idea. I sure can't wait to get my own. I plan to drive it for 4 months or so and then completely strip it and repaint the whole thing then do interior and work from there. Should I post a list of ideas in the projects forum?

Welcome, Joontae... Gulfport, eh? I lived in Biloxi for a few months... Keesler AFB... back in '85. I'm sure I won't recognize the place if I went back, but Biloxi has a way of making us Yankees NOT want to go back! Saying that, I'll be in northern MS next month - visiting my sister in Southaven, outside of Memphis. What's the weather like? Scorching yet?
Let me know if there are any Mini-related events going on in April! Something to do after I've visited Graceland!

That's crazy! Right now I live in Oxford and we go up to Southhaven all the time. NAh there are never any mini events or anything cool. Gulfpoert/Biloxi has changed so much. The weather is still quite cold. Ok some days but cold as well. Have fun visiting!

Quite cold? For MS, quite cold is what, 70? (21 for the benefit of the Celsius crowd!) Today it's creeping towards 60 here in sunny Cambridgeshire - and it's almost a heat wave!

You know I think it was the new italian job which brought me to watch the old one. Then finding out how you can do crazy engine upgrades. The sweetness of a car 4 feet wide and go kart handling. Then finding out I could get one over here! Albeit quite a lot for a 79 but worth it!
