The vacuum lines and elbows are the easiest of all things to be sure of. They're probably the cheapest to replace too. Good luck sussing it out. If your MAP sensor is clear, then hopefully it's only the vacuum lines that need fixing.

Good luck with it, Simon.

And thanks to Sprocket for the explanation about cats. I'm learning heaps on this forum!

Yeah Simon, I think that you should replace all the rubber elbow first(Total of 6 I think)

I have a 1992 spi 1.3 mini cooper. About a year ago i had some exhaust work done and the garage managed to set the cat on fire, a couple of days later my battery started to kepp running low and eventually i bought another one an put cut off in the boot. the battery will run down over about 36 hours if i dont turn the cut off to off. Anyway no the car wil only rev up to 2500 and then revs up and down on its own even if you keep the throttle in the same position, reardles of being in or out of gear. I think there may be a problem with the ECU, any ideas??

I have read a few posts here but have not found any answers as of yet thats why i have started a new topic

Thanks

Simon

Better check for battery positive cable that run from boot to front engine compartment. There is possibility that when your CAT on fire, the battery cable also melted and shorted to the body.
