hello.i have a 92 cooper spi but don't know if injection has any relevance here. For some reason my car won't idle.its a bit funny on idle at start up but manages it. If i rev its ok but when it goes to 1000 rpm it just goes past and stalls. Iv'e not so long back put on new dizzy cap and rotar arm.was fine yesterday on rolling road! Any ideas? I've cleaned all leads and inside dizzy...

Put some fuel in it :D

Again, sounds like the stepper needs tuning correctly.

I seem to remember you posting a while back about idle problems, did you ever get anything done about it. And what place does rolling road tuning on a Sunday  Did they adjust anything?

yeah i did have a problem with it but it just sorted itself out. This has only happened since i've taken my old dash out and put my new one in.all i've done is change my switches to toggle ones and a bit of wiring to fuse box.doesn't always start first time now either but usually does.i meant saturday for the rolling road too.came out at 73 so dead pleased with 72 torque.he said ran really well at minisport. Its got new fuel filter too.if it is the stepper motor didn't you say you needed a proper diagnostic to do it? Where round us up north can do it ?i've read the stepper motor operation thread and read all the haynes stuff about indexing it but not sure how to do it still.cheers!

suppose ill add this in whilst ive some time!

when it starts its a bit "gluggy" and is until i give it some res at which point its ok then itll rest at idle and hopefully not stall!

another thing ive noticed is that low down as in below 2000rpm it wants to die and kind pulls back if u put ur foot down but anything over that its fine and as fast as ever!

are we still thinking it might be the same thing?

if its not will the fault finder find it?

have you checked the vacum pipe on the underside of the inlet manifold as the 90 degree conectors split from the exhaust heat

and and then the ecu loses it vacum feed so will not idle

Powermadcoop dropped by the other weekend. FCR pluged in.....fault on MAP sensor. Pipes checked and sure enough MAP pipe had fell out under the ECU... cleaned ... pluged in and tye wrapped on... fault cleared. Lost motion gap set and all faults cleared and Mini idling .......job fixed.
