Tried to start Rab today with no success. I'm getting a spark from the coil but nothing from the dizzy cap. Does this mean I need a new one? Followed the guide from edran's thread on page 3.

Have you checked the little carbon bushes in the dizzy cap and also the rotor arm for ware?

they were slightly corroded and I cleaned them up but still no joy. I have just bitten the bullet and bought a new dizzy cap and rotor arm. I'll let you all know what happens when they arrive and are fitted.

Could be points and condenser.

Mine did this, but i think it was damp. Cleaned inside cap and around arm and in dizzy with a dry cloth carefully and it fired up when i put it bk together.

*Dam site went down posting this, bloody backup thingy*

You did right Bigbad, the spark at the coil means the dizzy internals are fine it's just not being distributed to the leads. New cap and rotor needed as you have done, or usually it's just the cap as the carbon bush in the middle wears down but a new rotor won't hurt.

New dizzy cap and rotor arm fitted a different ignition module and still no joy. Going into the garage next week as I haven't got a clue. The carb huffs and puffs and it backfires, but still nothing. The spark seems to be very weak from the spark plug but coil is fine.

Any ideas anyone????????? I would rather do it myself but I'm at a loss. Does the settings of the carb have anything to do with it as I had slightly adjusted them the last time it was running. Doesn't explain the weak spark though!!!

I would have to see the plugs as I tried the old leads with the new plugs and it still worked. :P
