well this has tickled my fancy for some time, here in Switzerland you cannot MOT such a mini, you cant even put "tracy and trev" sunvisors on the screen. (sorry to all those in the badlands) After looking at so many super projects on this forum it is time to start myself.
One thing was researching what engine to use, the boys at promotive have a super engine bit but was not much help, questions here on TMF stumped the R1 boys. (no answers, whats he on about?) well each country would seem to have its own number system so the engine numbers in the UK are well diffrent to europe, from what I have found out the motors are the same apart from the very first which had less hp. dont know what you pay in the UK for a motor nobody talk about this. well I payed 511 euro for a 2003 carb engine with 23k on the clock thats Kilometers.
time to find a set of wheels for the motor.

good question, you could make twin minis (two cars on one chassis number) but thats VERBOTEN to even think of that! so I am going to use it for hill and sprint. dont have to MOT it for that.

you got your engine really cheap - 511 euro is a very good price - please pm me the details of where you got it from.
If you need any other info on R1 conversions PM me because I have done loads of research and might be able to help.

now I have had a look in the store to see what I could use as wheels for the project. this mini would be perfect.
it has a history in racing which means it has good suspension, cage glasfront and so on.
the only problem is the car was totally underwater which means stripping it.
I want to reduce the body weight, as light as poss.
so lets get on with it.

can't get a TÜV in germany and import back into schweiz

that would be nice, and far to easy.
I know that the honda powered minis are getting TÜV but only the softer engines.
You can forget trying to get that tested here. each Mini has a type aproval number and you can not change the car out of that spec.
for example 10 inch wheels can be changed for 12 inch but a max of 12x4.5 with out hassle. forget 13inch and afermaket must have aproval
engines can be tuned to 20% more power but do not go out of the posion gas test.
if you poo money you can test anything, you can have a single type aproval.
so how do get round all of this? We cheat the b********s!

well its been a long while, in the mean time the pound has taken a real big dive. so I spent some cash with some guys for a Pro subframe :(
not sure how to find time for this with a few other projects on the go at the moment. the main one being the new workshop.
time will tell
