I've just fitted a set of 7x13 alloys to my mini but I have got no arch extensions at all fitted, will I get in trouble from the police for doing this as they stick out way past the car or is it not illegal. I have got some grp5 euro arches in my garage so I could fit them if I was going to get into any trouble.

Yes you will...

It is illegal to have any part of the TREAD of the tyre being exposed..

FYI, it is however not an MOT failure, just illegal !

PS, have you tried turning a corner yet ?, as you may need to be removing swathes of metal from the front arch.

I believe that you also need ( advised ) to should change the steering rack.

Newly available from KAD are specially machined collars to adapt the standard steering rack to Sportspack spec for use with 13" rims.

You will need to use a 6mm spacer at the rear as well to avoid scrubbing the dampers and radius arm.

The wheel just catches the wing on full lock so thats tonights job to trim back the wings. I have drove several miles this afternoon and have not had any rubbing on the rear and I have not fitted any spacers. The grp5 arches do look a pain to fit, is there any more easier to fit arches on the market?

once you've fit the wings back, because you've lost the original lip pretty much all of the arches will be fixed like the grp5's,
