Just wondering if I would see any difference in the running/performance of my mini 998 stage one, if I put some of that Redex stuff in, or is it a waste of money?

Thanks TML

There is Petrol treatment which says it 'cleans and lubricates cylinders and carburettors. Removes fuel-wasting carbon and gum deposits. Improves engine efficiency and petrol consumption'

also Redex engine flush which 'Frees & cleans piston rings and valves. Redex Engine Flush removes dirt deposits from the engine'

my 998+stg1 was running on so i soaked the combustion chambers in redex for a bit to get rid of carbon deposits which i suspected were causing the running on. it helped a little bit. If your engine is coked up (as caused by lots of chugging around town at a steady 30mph in 4th, old granny-stylee) then it will probably help.

and it eats away at your engine too, i would sugest personally using it. Take your car for a good run up the motor way, that will usually blast out alot of buuilt up carbon. Butthe best thing to do is take the head off and give it a clean

no, just be carefull not to score the head gasket face witht eh wire brush. You will need new gaskets and such. Its usually worth taking the valves out and re lapping them in too. That will help with keeping compression and performance up

re lapping.... thats way over my head. how much will it cost for a garage to do all that. yet my head has been converted some time in the past so do you think it will be ok?

its not worth getting a garage to do, it will cost loads! it tells you exactly what to do in the haynes manual. All you need to do is b able to take the cylinder head off. Re-lapping of the valves is grinding them in so that the valve has the same profile as the seat it sits into and gives a better seal. though if ur not sure what to do and havnt got a valve spring compressor then id just leave it
